HOW TO: Dial Before You Dig

Spring is now upon us, days getting longer, sun warmer and the flowers blooming. What a lovely time of year it is. With the weather improving and being inspired by TV shows such as The Block and The Renovators, renovation fever is running through our veins at fever pitch so across our great land gardens are getting a makeover. The pick and shovel are in hand ready to go, but have you checked where it is safe to dig? Regardless of planting a tree, laying a pipe or the full garden make over, there is one important step you need to take before you start, Dial Before You Dig!

Dial Before You Dig is Australia’s National Referral Service for information on Underground Pipes & Cables.

There are 2 simple ways to ensure it is safe to dig:

  1. Dial 1100 during business hours, free from a landline, (charges apply to mobiles) and press option 1. A consultant will take your details, and refer the enquiry to the utilities company managing your area. The utilities company will then forward you, by your preferred method, a detailed plan and outlay of cables and pipes on your property.

Time frames are:

Fax/email:  2 to 3 days.

Postal: 4 to 5 days.

Or
